Important issues deserve more than a standard template response

Organisations do not experience change, conflict or poor performance as neat consulting disciplines that fall easily into a classic nine-box grid. The real issue may sit somewhere between leadership, behaviour, communication, trust and commercial reality.

Briar Rose was created to bring experienced judgement closer to where the work is happening. The goal is to understand what is really happening, ask the questions that may have been avoided and shape practical support around the situation itself.

The objective is not activity for its own sake. It is to achieve greater clarity and drive real progress.

Jaimie’s experience was gained inside organisations, not alongside them.

He has held critical responsibility for revenue, budgets, teams, recruitment, performance and organisational change. He has helped build businesses, led functions, advised senior executives and supported people through decisions with genuine commercial and human consequences.

That matters because advice looks different when it comes from someone who has also had to implement decisions, defend investment, meet targets and remain accountable for the outcome.

Experience across many different worlds

The value of experience lies not only in its duration, but in the range of situations through which it has been tested.

Jaimie has worked across different businesses, functions, countries and cultures, from commercial and marketing roles to corporate communication, organisational change and executive advisory work.

He has lived and worked internationally, supported leaders across Europe, Asia and North America, and operated within organisations with very different histories, expectations and ways of working.

Independent enough to challenge;
experienced enough to know how.

Briar Rose brings the independence and experience to ask the questions others may have avoided, and the judgement to do so constructively.

That may mean challenging an assumption, identifying an issue beneath the original brief or saying what the client needs to hear rather than simply confirming what it hoped to hear.

Candour is only useful when it improves the outcome. The aim is not to provoke for effect, but to bring the real issue into focus and help people decide what should happen next.

Senior experience that stays close to the work

Briar Rose is principal-led. Jaimie remains directly involved in understanding the issues, shaping the approach and delivering the work.

Where an assignment requires broader capability, Briar Rose can draw on a trusted network of experienced specialists and complementary organisations.

This allows the support to expand around the needs of the assignment without introducing layers between the client and the senior people responsible for the work.

Jaimie Brown

Jaimie is the founder and principal adviser of Briar Rose. His career spans more than three decades of commercial, marketing, communication and organisational leadership in international businesses. He has worked with executive teams and senior leaders on transformation, reputation, strategy, culture, operating models and complex organisational decisions.

Before establishing Briar Rose as an active independent practice, he held senior global and regional roles in healthcare, information services and other knowledge-led businesses.

His approach combines commercial realism, clear communication and close attention to the human dynamics that often determine whether change succeeds or conflict is resolved.

Current thinking and professional network

Jaimie shares occasional reflections, updates and professional commentary through his personal LinkedIn profile. He joined LinkedIn in 2006 and while it has evolved over the last 20 years, he engages with it as a professional network rather than a broadcast channel.

Connections have always been limited to people he knows, has worked with directly, or to whom he has been introduced by a trusted colleague. This helps keep his network relevant, credible and grounded in genuine professional relationships rather than just another social media channel.

A considered approach to difficult work

Measure twice; cut once

The initial brief may only describe the symptom rather than the underlying issue, knowing the difference is key.

Say what needs to be said

Advice should serve the outcome, not simply validate an existing view.

Keep experience close

The senior person engaged remains involved in the work.

Focus on real progress

Clarity matters because it supports better decisions and useful action.

Experience is most valuable when it is applied to the right issue

An initial conversation can help establish what is happening, where experienced support may add value and whether Briar Rose is the right fit for you.
